With the transfer window set to slam shut on Thursday evening, speculation regarding potential last-minute deals is rife, with Manchester City rarely out of the spotlight.
Letâs start with the news that City are set to land teenage star Aminu Mohammed.
Steve Goodman, writing in The Sun, believes the Blues have tied up a deal for Mohammed, a 16-year-old Ghanaian winger currently with Red Bull Salzburg.
According to the report, there has been plenty of interest in the youngster â but itâs City who have moved into pole position to finalise a move.
âManchester City have pipped Real Madrid and Bayern Munich to Ghanaian wing prodigy Aminu Mohammed," Goodman writes.
âThe Under-17 international impressed during a two-week trial at the Etihad club.
âNow City have paid his home countryâs WAFA Academy £2million for him.
âMohammed, 16, caught the eye of City scouts while playing in a youth tournament in Qatar for Red Bull Salzburg.
âHis two goals helped them to a 3-2 win over Paris Saint-Germain.
âThe Austrians are a partner club to the WAFA Academy.
âSpanish and German champions Real and Bayern also cast admiring glances at the winger, who has been likened to a young Neymar due to his goalscoring prowess and skill on the ball.â
Meanwhile, speculation City are set to tie up a deal for Arsenalâs Alexis Sanchez before Thursdayâs deadline continues to make the back pages.
The Chilean has been linked with a move to the Etihad throughout the summer, and David Woods, the Starâs chief football writer, believes a player-plus-cash deal is now on the table.
âThe Gunners are facing a crisis after yesterdayâs 4-0 drubbing at Liverpool,â Woods writes.
âAnd boss Arsene Wenger and the club could be ready to sell the Chile star, who was taken off after 62 minutes of his teamâs woeful showing at Anfield.
âSanchez has just a year left on his contract and Starsport revealed on Saturday how he is demanding a mind-blowing £400,000-a-week to sign a new deal.
âCity have already made one bid of £50m and were at first expected to go to £60m.â
And, finally, Dave Armitage, writing inthe Star, believes it will take an âunbelievableâ offer for City to land West Brom defender Jonny Evans.
Armitage says City have already had one offer of £18 million rejected â but iniststs a fresh bid is likely before Thursday.
âCity have had one £18m bid to land the Albion skipper knocked back and are expected to come in again,â he writes.
âWest Brom value the 29-year-old at nearer £30m and insist they wonât let him go unless an unbelievable offer comes in.
âThe former Manchester United defender insists he will remain 100 per cent committed to the club until something happens.â
Thatâs all for today, Blues. Same time, same place tomorrow!
