After yesterdayâs back pages were awash with praise for Manchester Cityâs opening-day performance at Brighton, itâs back to transfer business this morning.
And according to BBC Sport, City are on the verge of landing Olarenwaju Kayode from Austria Vienna.
The Nigeria international is understood to be close to signing a four-year deal with the Club.
BBC Sportâs Oluwashina Okeleji writes: âManchester City are set to sign Nigeria international Olarenwaju Kayode from Austria Vienna on a four-year deal and send him on a season-long loan to Spanish side Girona.
âThe 24-year-old striker finished as the top scorer in Austria's top flight last season with 17 goals in 33 games.
âKayode had been linked with a move to Newcastle United.
âFour other City players are to spend the 2017-18 season at newly-promoted La Liga side Girona.
âBrazilian £10.7million midfielder Douglas Luiz, right-back Pablo Maffeo, midfielder Aleix Garcia and Colombian winger Marlos Moreno have all signed loan deals with the Spanish club.
âCity are yet to officially announce the deal for Kayode.
âHe scored 24 goals in 48 matches for Vienna last season, including two goals in two games against Roma in the Europa League.â
Meanwhile, Alexis Sanchez, the Arsenal forward who has been linked with a move to City all summer, is reportedly in talks with Paris Saint-Germain about a switch to the French capital.
The Sunâs Jake Lambourne writes: âSanchez missed his sideâs epic 4-3 win against Leicester City and will again be out of action against Stoke City next Saturday.
âHe was in attendance at the Emirates on Friday night to watch his side grab a late winner against the Foxes with his partner Mayte Rodriguez.
âThe ex-Udinese winger is being chased by Manchester City as well as Unai Emeryâs side, but he has been offered a new £300,000-a-week deal to stay on with the FA Cup champions.
âPSG have already brought in Neymar to Ligue 1 from Barcelona in a world-record transfer fee of £198m, as they look to build a team capable of winning the Champions League.â
Thatâs all for today, Blues. Stay with us throughout the day for all the latest City news.
