Gossip: Trio on City's radar? - Manchester City

We're between draws today - the Carabao Cup one has happened, the Champions League one yet to come - so let's take a look at what the papers are saying in the meantime...

First to the ongoing Alexis Sanchez saga, with two national titles suggesting the Blues are still in the hunt for his signature.

The Times' Paul Hirst writes: "Manchester City have not given up hope of signing Alexis Sánchez and are considering launching a bid to capture the £50 million-rated Chile forward before the transfer window closes a week today."

The report continues: "Arsène Wenger, the Arsenal manager, maintains that he would rather let the 28-year-old leave on a free transfer next summer than allow his star forward to join City in the present window, but Pep Guardiola remains hopeful of completing a deal before next week’s deadline."

There's a similar theme from Miguel Delaney in the Independent, who reported yesterday: "Manchester City will make one last push for Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez in the last week of the transfer window, as they seek to complete their transfer business with a star signing."

Elsewhere, City's reported pursuit of West Brom defender Jonny Evans pops up across a number of news outlets.

"Jonny Evans is set to complete a £30million switch to Manchester City next week," reckons Mirror reporter James Nursey.

"The Blues are poised to return with another offer for West Brom defender Evans, after having an £18m bid rejected.

"Boss Pep Guardiola has spent over £200m already this summer — including £130m on full-back trio Kyle Walker, Benjamin Mendy and Danilo. Now he is determined to land the former Manchester United centre-back ahead of next Thursday’s 11pm deadline."

Finally to a new name in the speculation stakes: Aaron Martin Caricol

Sport Witness reports: "Catalan outlet Sport claims Manchester City are offering €20m for the 20-year-old, and the clubs are currently in negotiations.

"Despite his young age, Caricol is currently Espanyol’s first option for the left-back position, and as mentioned in the story, even Real Madrid were interested in signing him at one stage.

“Aaron has recently signed a new contract which runs until 2022, and has a release clause of €30m until next summer. After June 30th 2018, it will be raised to €40m.”
